Taking on the Peaks Challenge
This September, 20 of our colleagues will take on two of the most iconic hiking adventures, raising vital funds for our valued community partners as part of our ongoing commitment to support the communities we serve across the UK and Ireland.
Four Peaks, Ireland
First up is the Four Peaks Challenge in Ireland, from 1st September until 3rd September – a 48-hour endurance expedition, climbing the highest peaks in each of the four provinces of Ireland and taking in some of the best views in the country.
Tackling the peaks of Carrauntooh, Mweelrea, Slieve Donard and Lugnaquilla, our team will be supporting Inner City Enterprise, which champions unemployed people to set up their own business, as well as supporting social enterprises and encouraging entrepreneurship. Our donations will go towards providing specialised training and mentoring support across website design, finance, and business strategy.
Three Peaks, UK
Later in September, from Tuesday 19th to Wednesday 20th, 10 of our colleagues will take on Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, finishing up with Welsh mountain Snowden – on a clear day it’s possible to see four kingdoms, 24 countries, 29 lakes and 17 islands from Snowden’s summit!
With a total height of almost 3,000m, our colleagues are training hard for the occasion.
This group of explorers will be raising funds for The Big Issue, changing lives through enterprise by part funding the salary of a Big Issue Vendor Frontline Worker, a vital role which provides housing, health, wellbeing, employment and training support to around 75 Big Issue vendors, all who manage their own individual micro-enterprise, purchasing copies of the Big Issue magazine to sell on the UK’s streets.
We’re excited and inspired to support such brilliant charities, and can’t wait to see how our colleagues get on with their expedition of a lifetime.
